Kristin Kay Slawson, M.A., CCC-SLP is an Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland at College Park. As a certified brain injury specialist, she is particularly interested in the functional impact of traumatic brain injury on language and cognitive-linguistic abilities and is involved in work to improve assessment and intervention for mild TBI. Her interests also include identifying social barriers for people with aphasia and developing strategies to reduce the impact of these barriers. Prior to joining the HESP faculty, she worked in a variety of medically-based therapy settings treating patients with speech, language and cognitive-linguistic deficits related mainly to neurological disorders such as stroke and brain injury.
