Title: "Examining Children’s Cognitive Control from the Laboratory to the Classroom"

Speaker: Jennie Grammer (University of Virginia)

AbstractIn this talk I will give an overview of our work examining children’s cognitive control, and the role that children’s classroom experiences play in the development of these skills. Drawing on examples from experimental, longitudinal, and qualitative studies, together we will discuss the implications of research on cognitive control for educational practice. Finally, I will describe the work of the newly formed UC/CSU Collaborative for Neuroscience, Diversity and Learning and our efforts to incorporate new research on cognition and learning into teacher preparation and professional development across the state of California.
